English case conversion Introduction

About the rules and uses of English caps:

(1), uppercase

① Capitalize the first letter of the first word in every sentence.

The first line of each paragraph is also usually capitalized, but not all paragraphs begin this way.

(2), title case

Article titles usually use "title case", that is, the first letter of each word is capitalized and the rest of the letters are lowercase, except for short prepositions and conjunctions (such as of, and, the).

Newspapers and magazines may use the "lower case first" rule for their headlines, which means that the first letter of the word is lowercase except for the first letter of the first word.

(3), proper nouns

① The first letter of proper nouns such as personal names, place names, and brand names should be capitalized.

The first letter of the title of a book, movie, song, etc., is usually capitalized.

(4), abbreviations and acronyms

The first letter of an abbreviation is usually capitalized, such as "Mr.", "Mrs.", "Dr.".

② Each letter in an acronym (e.g., NASA, UNICEF) is capitalized.
